New headboard

So I don't like the pink, and I'm going to see if I can't dye it a rich green colour (we love the colour green =] ) so that it more suits the way we want our bedroom to look. I considered red - but I don't like being surrounded by too much red, and for a bedroom green is so much more relaxing.

But other than that, this is our new headboard! I've been wanting one for as long as I can remember, and this is pretty much exactly what I was looking for. We found it at an auction house that doubles as a second-hand store. I went their -specifically- to find one. Some guy was bringing it in to get it sold, just as I walked in my with Mum. Fell instantly in love and asked what they wanted for it.

I scored it for $20AU. Not bad, if I do say so myself. Its solid wood, although I'm not sure what kind. I love the little details, and how there's the space for two bed side tables, as well. Now we just need to find the tables to match. Also, I'm unsure whether to put legs on our bed so that we don't need to cut the headboard down to fit, or keep it low. Decisions, decisions =]

Steampunk ephemera

Its a sort of semi passport/registration document. The other pages, when we do them, will have more information. In researching passports, btw, I learnt that wives and children were on the husband/father's passport. So for anyone who raises a "WTH?" comment, that's why we don't have two different one's. Of course, we're looking for suggestions on how to improve it. Things we could include to make it seem more "real". Any mistakes (yes, I'm aware that's not how you spell wife... its fixed, now, but I'm not reloading til its a little more worth it) etc...

Wall Lanterns from Donovan Design

I think lighting can make or break a room, almost as much as colour, texture and all the other things that make a room what it is. The wall scones below are my favourite from Donovan Designs, gorgeous =}

Not sure where I stole these pictures from.

Haeckel's Melethallia

I love this scientific plate from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur, I love the sense of whimsy mixed with geometry. I hope to get a print and hang it from a wall. There's a number of his other plates that I like, but none as much as this.

You can see the other plates at the Wikimedia Commons site, where they're all available in the public domain. Which is most excellent news =]
